The Embassy of India in France has on Saturday said that it is working with the French Government to resolve the situation of the grounding of a Nicaragua bound aircraft carrying around 300 Indian citizens at Vatry airport near Paris. The plane that took off from Fujairah in United Arab Emirates was grounded on suspicion of human trafficking.

On 22nd December 2023, French officials detained the plane and the passengers after it halted in one of its airports for a technical stopover.

The Indian Mission had earlier informed that there were 303 people on the aircraft, mostly Indian origin. It also said that the embassy had reached and obtained consular access and investigating the situation, also ensuring wellbeing of passengers.

On Friday, the Indian Embassy said that its consular staff was stationed at the airport and thanked the “French authorities for working on this through the long holiday weekend.”

According to reports, the aircraft was operated by Romanian Legend Airlines.
