The Office of the Deputy Commissioner and the District Election Officer, Noklak District organised a program to celebrate National Voters’ Day 2024 under the theme ‘Nothing like Voting, I Vote for Sure’ on Thursday at the DC Conference Hall.
In his address, DC Noklak, Arikumba stressed on the importance and necessities of enrolment in the electoral process. He stated that it is one’s duty to participate in the election process without any bias. The DC further advised the young voters to abstain from selling their votes and appealed to take active participation in the electoral process.
Arikumba also congratulated the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who had been awarded the best BLOs under 56 AC and 57 AC Constituency and encouraged them to have the same zeal.
Delivering the keynote address, Vikhoto Richa, Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) said that this year’s National Voters’ Day is important because this year, the nation will be conducting the Lok Sabha elections. He also advised the young voters to exercise their franchise in the forthcoming parliamentary elections. He also advised the BLOs to enroll all the eligible voters in the E-roll district.

DC Arikumba felicitated the first time voters and also presented cash prizes to the best BLO awardees. The best BLO was awarded to Khulem Khiamniungan under 56AC Noklak and Mechei under 57 AC Thonoknyu.
Other highlights of the program included the introduction of SHIU-E SHG, meaning ‘Able or possible’, which comes under SVEEP. Heno, District PwD Icon stated that People with Disabilities will give awareness program on SVEEP campaign. Its main purpose is to uplift each other and be a testimony in the society despite weaknesses, he added.
Earlier the program was chaired by Sentimeren, Assistant Programmer; short speech was delivered by Chongphe, GHSS Noklak, Campus Ambassador; and, vote of thanks was delivered by Menlom, EAC & AERO.
