The third edition of the Tening Town Inter ward tournament inaugural program was held at Tening Town local ground with Dr. Meningsiliu Rentta as the Special Guest. The program was held under the theme ‘Get Smart, Don’t Start, Stay Away from Drug’, informed the DIPR.

Dr. Meningsiliu in her speech emphasised the need to provide good and healthy lifestyles and to promote and prevent gender base violence besides the prevention from substance abuse.

She encouraged the gathering to promote a healthy environment through sports and to encourage others through skills building. The doctor urged upon all to reduce schools dropout rate and social and physical problems face by many people.

Highlighting the major problems socially caused by alcohol in today’s world, the medical practitioner pointed out the rise of extra marital affairs in the society and others consequences and complications. People with drugs addiction have one or more associated health issues which could include lung or heart disease, cancer and mental health issues, stated Dr. Meningsiliu, challenging the gathering present to tackle the problems of drugs menace. Later, the special guest officially declared open the tournament.

The program was chaired by General Secretary Tening Town youth Organization (TTYO) Wiridin while President TTYO, Kaibakam addressed the welcome note and Tingthuilu gave a special performance.
