Nagas need to reduce festive social events, and invest more on quality time to build society: MLA Dr. Neisatuo Mero addresses opening 77th CSU General Conference at Losami

The 77th General Conference of the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) began today at Losami village. The three days long conference is being held under the theme “Breaking Barriers, Shaping the future.”

70 units under the CSU registered for the conference,which will continue till February 2.

“Never regret in life for not utilizing your time in a proper way as life is short. It is like a shooting star. You blink your eyes and you don’t see any more,” said MLA Dr. Neisatuo Mero who addressed the introductory session. He urged the students to to strike opportunity at the right time, while also advising that one must know how to divide one’s time.

Stating that Nagas have lots of festivities, social gatherings, religious gatherings, Dr. Mero emphasized the need to cut down some of the activities and invest more on quality time to have a better society.

In this context, the MLA advised the students to divide their time judiciously in pursuance of education, and to fully dedicate to their studies and work hard to excel in life.

Delving on the stiff competition in today’s world, Dr. Mero stressed that the present scenario is the ‘Survival of the fittest’ with the degree of competition being extremely high whether its UPSC, NPSC or NSSB.

“Don’t ever think because your parents are wealthy, educated or from a high family. You can compete and succeed, but it is from your inner calling and hardwork that will enable you to compete with energy and go through the process of long suffering as it is not a short term but it is a long term preparation to compete with others,” said Dr. Mero.

The MLA also acknowledged that one of the best education policies are in place in India as well as in Nagaland where the Department is trying its best to implement it. “We have the best teachers, lecturers with required qualification in teaching. Our state is no where less from other states,” asserted Dr. Mero. He also expressed happiness over the Department of School Education in streamlining the non-functional schools, to keep the teacher student ratio balanced in different schools of the state and providing Education materials to have better Education system in the state.

Earlier, Dr. Mero inaugurated CSU road at Losami.

Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) President Kevesa Khamo and Pochury Students’ Union (PSU) President Rongley Leyri shared greetings and solidarity message respectively. The session was chaired by CSU Tribunal Member Vetho Vadeo while Kesowe Mekrisuh, Pastor Losami Baptist Church invoked God’s blessing.

Wepete Mekrisuh, LOC Convenor delivered the welcome address while Chekholo Akami, CSU Deputy Speaker presented the introduction of CSU units. The current activities of the CSU was highlighted by Pei Kezo, CSU General Secretary. Dziive Venuh and Ralii Yhobu presented special songs.The introductory session concluded with benediction by Kekhwewe, Head Deacon  Losami Baptist Church. The session was followed by Union Assembly with prayer by Medowecho-u Mekrisuh, Youth Director, Losami Baptist Church.

Nagaland’s Power & Parliamentary Affairs Minister K.G. Kenye will grace the inaugural session on February 1 at 9:00 AM.
