AR renovates badminton hall in Phek

In its efforts to promote sports and physical fitness among the civilians, the Assam Rifles of Phek garrison inaugurated a newly renovated badminton hall for budding sports enthusiasts and locals in Phek district, Nagaland on February 13.

The hall was inaugurated by Commandant of Phek garrison Assam Rifles and was attended by Natuzo Lohe, President of Phek Badminton Association, various local leaders, youth organisation members and civilians of Phek village and town. The task to renovate the pre-existing court into a fully revamped badminton hall was an initiative undertaken by Assam Rifles under its Assam Rifles – Civic Action Program (AR-CAP) project considering the need and to provide a boost to the talented sports enthusiast children of Phek district, Nagaland and make sports facilities attractive while simultaneously promoting the need for younger generation to be physically fit and healthy. The complete hall is revamped with new water insulated roof, two fully equipped badminton courts with new mats. The whole seating area has been upgraded and improved drainage facilities in case of rains and floors also have been re-constructed.

Upon inauguration, the badminton hall was handed over to the Phek Badminton Association and dedicated to the budding young generation. All elders, youth leaders, council members and civilians who attended the inauguration ceremony expressed their profound gratitude and heartfelt appreciation towards Assam Rifles for their selfless service to nation as well as their immense contribution for development of the region.
