The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Regional Office in Guwahati organized a State Level Workshop on “Recent Initiatives for Simplifying Aadhaar Usage” in Kohima on February 20, informed the DIPR.
Cmde Dhiraj Sareen, Deputy Director General of UIDAI, Regional Office Guwahati, emphasized the significance and implications of Aadhaar as a tool for empowerment and inclusivity. He underscored Aadhaar’s aim to provide every individual with a unique, verifiable identity and its instrumental role in ensuring access to various government services, subsidies, and benefits for even the most marginalized. He pledged UIDAI’s continuous support to Nagaland for enhancing ‘Ease of Living’ in the state.
Chief Guest Abhijit Sinha, IAS, Home Commissioner, highlighted Aadhaar’s role in delivering Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes to genuine beneficiaries. He noted the achievement of hundred percent transparency in service delivery with the introduction of Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS).

Col. Abhishek Koushik, Director, commended the initiatives undertaken by the Nodal Department (Office of the Commissioner) to achieve an upward trend In Aadhaar saturation. The Directorate of Land Records, Government of Assam, shared success stories on “Authentication” by onboarding into the UIDAI ecosystem.
Officials from UIDAI Head Office, DBT Mission, and NPCI delivered detailed presentations on Aadhaar usage, focusing on subsidies/benefits delivery under Section-7 of the Aadhaar Act 2016 using DBT and AePS. They highlighted that Aadhaar authentication facilities can be utilized by entities for good governance under Section 4(4)(b)(ii) of the Aadhaar Act 2016. Benjamin Longkap, ADC, Office of the Commissioner Nagaland, shared highlights on Aadhaar enrolment activities of the state.
The workshop concluded on a positive note with a vote of thanks by Kapil Jambhulkar, Director, UIDAI, Regional Office Guwahati.
