The Phek Government College observed the National Science Day which was organized by the Science Club in collaboration with IQAC of Phek Government College on February 28. The day was observed under the theme “Indigeneous Technologies for Viksit Bharat.”
The resource person for the event was Lydia Keyho, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology who stressed on the theme focusing on the vision of a fully developed India and finding solutions to our challenges as we move forward as a country. The importance of science and technology in making India a self-reliant country, and celebrating the successes of Indian Scientists was also highlighted.
According to a press release issued by the college, the program was chaired by Nisekhoto Nisa, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Zoology, invocation by Akhrienuo, Librarian PGC.
The welcome note Was delivered by Principal, Dr. T. Tiakaba Jamir which was followed by a special song by the B.Sc 6th semester students.

A competition for prepared speeches on the theme “Science for a sustainable Future” was also held where a total of four schools participated. The first position was bagged by Sugulu Nienu of Christian Mission Hr. Secondary School, Phek, second position by Sebalu Rhakho of Royal Foundation School, Phek and third position by Setseno Nuwiry of Holy Care School, Phek. The competition was judged by Dr. Nutazo Lohe, Shesalu Lohe and Mughato K. Kiba, Assistant Professors, Phek Govt. College. The winners received certificates and cash prizes. The competition was followed by a display of Exhibition (theme – Science for a sustainable future) by the students of different departments under Phek Government College Science stream.
