In a collaborative effort between the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), Nagaland, and the State Council of Educational Research & Training Nagaland, Kohima, Pariksha Parv 6.0 was celebrated at Fernbrook School, Wokha, on February 28. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Pariksha Pe Charcha,” the program aimed to provide a platform for students, teachers, and parents to discuss the significance of exams and strategies to alleviate anxiety and examination pressure.
Dr. Zavise Rume, a Professor at SCERT, highlighted the essence of Pariksha Parv as a celebration of examinations, initiated to empower children to express themselves globally through exams. He emphasized the prevalence of stress, anxiety, and depression among Indian students due to inadequate exam preparation, with 95 percent lacking proper training.
Akumla Longchari, Member of NSCPCR, underscored the program’s role in raising awareness about stress and anxiety management. Urging for a shift in perspective towards exams, Longchari advocated for treating exams as festivals. The detrimental impact of academic pressures on students, leading to alarming suicide rates were highlighted where Longchari emphasized the multifaceted nature of exam stress, stemming from factors like preparation, study methods, and external pressures. Longchari encouraged parents and teachers to foster closer relationships with students to mitigate exam-related stress.
