Photo Exhibition on 9 years of Seva Sushasan & Garib Kalyan held at Dimapur Government College

The Photo Exhibition on Integrated Communication and Outreach programme of 9 years of Seva Sushasan & Garib Kalyan and Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation was held on March 5 at Dimapur Government College. It was organised by Central Bureau of Communication, Field Office Kohima, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, informed the DIPR.

In this program, E. Lichumthung Kikon, Asst. Prof. Department of Commerce, DGC said that the electoral process is one of the major unifying activities for every Indian citizen. Election Day is the sole day when everyone in India is equal, regardless of gender, education, socio-economic status or geographical location and every citizen who have attended the age of 18 years and above have the right to vote and every vote counts. “It is a Fundamental right of every citizen to vote as laid down in the constitution of India. It is a voluntary action, but many a times we the citizens option not to choose our representative. The right to vote is one of the few pillars of democracy. Therefore it is important that one must vote if he/she is able to and contribute to the country,” stated Kikon. He maintained that to make these changes one must vote by taking an informed vote and casting it.  He urged everyone to vote as everyone has a different opinion in a democratic state like India and have the ability and an opportunity to choose our leaders.

Revenue Officer, Dimapur Vineikho Tetso who grace the occasion as the Chief Guest said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi various development schemes were provided for the poor, farmers and Youths. Youths today have immense talent in every field have established their own business and entrepreneurships. He asserted that the past nine years have unveiled the latent potential of India and brought the ‘Nation-First’ motto to the core of governance. “The dreams of yesterday are becoming the realities of today and the unwavering might of 1.4 billion Indians have fearlessly navigated us through all adversities, “ said Vinekho who thanked the CBC for choosing the venue and said this will bring a bright knowledge for the students in the future.

P. Sophie, HoO, CBC Kohima in his vote of thanks, thanked the chairperson Amongla N. Jamir, Asst Prof, Department of Political Science DGC; Prof. Sanjay Sharma, Principal DGC and the CBC Regional Office, Imphal, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting for presenting Songs and Drama.
