The Rising People’s Party has claimed that “massive amount of money” was being given to all PDA Legislators, excluding those from Eastern Nagaland, to buy votes “at any cost” as the wave of support for Congress candidate S Supongmeren Jamir gains momentum.

The Party, which had earlier committed to support Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, also claimed that the People’s Democratic Alliance has “exhausted all its options in securing victory” and were now resorting to “cash-for-votes”.

“Giving credence to such speculations, it’s observed there’s hardly any checking of vehicles/choppers by ECI officials and the fact that the Congress’ accounts have been frozen, the absence of checking means that any amount of cash can be easily transferred”, RPP further alleged. The Party also demanded for explanation from the Election Commission of India on this matter.

RPP stated that the forthcoming election should be an easy win for PDA as the Congress candidate is up against 60 MLAs, however the “nervousness in the PDA camp is palpable”. It said that the ruling government is “trapped in its won cleverness” referring to the ENPO issue.

It accused the PDA of deceiving ENPO on its demand for Frontier Nagaland Territory and when the organization declared that it would refrain from participating in the electoral process, the State government “maneuvered” ENLU and ENGOA to persuade ENPO to change its decision which but backfired miserably. RPP also mentioned NDPP President N Chingwang Konyak’s summon to appear before the Konyak Union for making “unfavorable comments” on the FNT.
