SVEEP Inter-College debate competition was held at Town Hall, Mokokchung on 10th April 2024, DIPR has informed.
Speaking at the programme, ADC Mokokchung, Chumlamo Humtsoe mentioned that the competition aims to educate young voters on ethical electoral practices and instill awareness at an early stage.
Assistant Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar delivered a speech on voter awareness, urging everyone to exercise their right to vote, emphasizing how votes drive political and social changes. He highlighted the responsibility of government officials to ensure fair and peaceful elections and emphasized the duty of every citizen to vote.
Participants from People’s College, Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung College of Teacher’s Education, Shisalen Riju, and Jubilee Memorial College took part in the debate, featuring motions for and against.
Asensor from Fazl Ali College was awarded as the best speaker, while the runner-up team, Yimyatetla Sanglir and Medemren Longchar from Jubilee Memorial College received recognition. The winning team comprised of Sungdienla L Ozukum and Nungsanglila Jamir from Shisalen Riju.
District SVEEP Icons, Supongsangla and Arenlong, encouraged everyone to vote stressing the importance of each vote.
EAC Mokokchung, Alemyim Isaac Solo delivered the vote of thanks.
