The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued weather updates advising the public to exercise caution and stay safe with the anticipation of rainfall accompanied with lightning, thunderstorm and squally winds
“Nagaland will experience light to heavy rainfall which is expected to be fairly widespread. Rainfall may be accompanied with other pre-monsoon activities such as lightning, thunderstorm and squally winds which is expected to last till April 21,” stated a press release issued by Johnny Ruangmei, Joint CEO NSDMA Home Department.
During this period, there may be partly cloudy moderate rainfall from April 19 to 23 in the districts of Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Jalukie, Noklak, Kohima, Mon, Peren, Phek, Shamator, Tseminyu and Zunhboto. However, heavy rainfall is expected to occur in districts such as Longleng, Mokokchung, Tuensang and Wokha from April 19 to 23.

During this time, the minimum and maximum temperature of the state will vary between 15°C and 41°C respectively.
In this regard, the NSDMA, Home Department has urged the public to exercise caution and stay safe following the safety measures issued earlier by the department. The NSDMA has also requested all the District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments to be on alert to attend to any eventualities and save lives and properties.
