The I.I.M.U.N. Kohima Conference, 2024 was held on the 23rd, 24th and 25th May, marking the thirteenth year of I.I.M.U.N. physical conferences, hosted in the beautiful campus of The G. Rio School, Kohima. The conference witnessed an impressive turnout of students from grades 6th to 12th, hailing from various schools across Nagaland along with a few students from Guwahati. Students indulged in enriching discussions on national and international topics, tailored to their respective age groups such as Preparing a framework to alleviate poverty in the state of Nagaland, Roadmap to deal with rising unemployment, Reassessing the status of Rohingya amongst other topics.
The opening ceremony on 23rd May was held with close to 450 attendees, congregating at the G. Rio School, Kohima, under one platform commencing with a lamp lighting ceremony followed by a phenomenal Indian Classical dance performance. The ceremony was graced by Designer and Author, Theyiesinuo Keditsu ( Mekhala Mama), Professor and Deputy Registrar of Parul University, Pawan Dwivedi, along with the principal of G. Rio School, Temsu Waten as the Guests for the evening.
The conferences’ highlights were the discussions and remarkable declarations put forth by the students, showcasing their in-depth research and knowledge on the subject matter.

The students had the opportunity to be addressed by Committee Experts on the various topics discussed. The students of Nagaland Legislative Assembly committee got an opportunity to meet Advocate CT Jamir, President of Nagaland Bar Association and the students of All India Political Parties met Kahuto Chishi Sumi, a prominent social activist.
The third day began with an early morning fitness session, helping students rejuvenate physically and mentally before the final committee sessions. “The closing ceremony was a mix of emotions, as the winners celebrated their triumphs, while all participants bid farewell to each other with heavy hearts.The event was a testament to the warm hospitality and nurturing environment of the host, which has been a home for the participants in Kohima, and a source of immense pride,” stated a press release by IIMUN.
The ending of the ceremony was marked by the Managing Director of the School, the Dean of Student affairs and students planting a sapling in the campus of the host school.
