Search for bodies at Doyang unsuccessful on 2nd day

Wokha: Search operation to continue on 29th May

The search operation for the bodies of the two individuals who drowned at the Doyang Dam on 27th May 2024 was unsuccessful on Tuesday and had to be called off.

The bodies of as Elanthung Ngullie, Age 20, s/o lt. Khumjamo Ngullie and Thungchio Patton, Age 24, S/o Lobemo Patton could not be recovered on the second day of the operation. The two men had drowned in the Doyang when the boat they were travelling in capsized due to strong wind.

Echung Konyak, Company Commandant, Home Guard and Civil Defence, informed that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team from Kohima arrived at the site at 5:30 am on Tuesday and the search began between 6:30 am to 7:00 am.

He added that the search would continue on 29th May.
