Independent candidate Atou Liezietsu declared his candidature and kicked off his campaign for the Urban Local Bodies (election) from Ward No.9, Midland today here at APO hall, Kohima.
Atou Liezietsu, addressing the campaign assured his unwavering commitment to serve for the people and work for the development of the colony with equity and without favouritism.
Stressing for a free and fair election, Liezietsu urged the residents not to be misled by money power adding that it will not sustain them and, in this regard, he appealed the denizens to wisely decide and elect a councillor who will represent the voice and aspirations of the colony and bring about change and development.

He also said that ULB is not a general election and thus, obtaining party ticket from the ruling government or any other party does not hold much importance but choosing a representative who will work for the welfare of the society is more important.
“If I am given the opportunity to work for my people then my first priority will be to work for the upliftment of our youths because the youths are our future and to bring development in my colony,” said Liezietsu.
The candidate has a vast experience as Former President of Midland Youth Organization (2007-2009); Former President of Kohima Press Club (2006-07); Former Media Officer to Chief Minister Nagaland (2017); Former Journalist (2001-06); Former Press Secretary of Naga Peoples Front (NPF) 2017-2024; and, the incumbent Finance Secretary of Midland Panchayat.
Former MLA and Candidate of Nagaland General Election, Keneizhakho Nakhro recalled his association with the candidate Atou Liezietsu and stated that he is a sincere, dedicated and transparent person who is approachable.
He stated that Midland Ward is fortunate to have a person of Liezietsu’s quality among them and told the gathering not to be bothered by the party tickets but elect a person who is approachable and would work for the people of the locality.
Further, Nakhro also beseech the support of the colony resident for Atou like he (Nakhro) received during the general elections in the past, while adding that the candidate has a vast experience and exuded confidence that he would work for the people.
Speeches were also delivered by Khrienuo Liezietsu who is the daughter of the candidate and Neisezolie Liezietsu spoke on behalf of family.
The declaration of the candidate was done by Victor Russell (Election agent) and the campaign program was led by Keneizelie Tachü.
