The Pughoboto Sub-Division, Zunheboto being an upstream settlement through which the Doyang River flows, the Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pughoboto on June 14, notified the general public of the ‘Ban and Prohibit’ of any form of individual/organised dumping of Plastic and other wastes into Tapu (Doyang) River and its tributaries Tsuvi, Kucho, Thaghu, Tsuli and Yeti and any other water body within the Sub-Division.
This comes in view of the recent exercise conducted under the theme ‘Clean Doyang Mission’ where the Government agencies have undertaken intensive ‘Mission Mode’ cleaning of Doyang Reservoir at Wokha to remove the accumulated Plastic and other Non Biodegradable pollutants, which are carried downstream by flow of water in Doyang River.

Taking cognizance of the ill effects of Waste Disposal in the rivers and understanding the importance of collective efforts to avoid River Pollution, the District Administration appealed to all individuals, organisations, towns and villages under Pughoboto to ensure that the stretch of Tapu (Doyang) River along the Sub-Division is protected from anthropogenic pollution and avoid littering with and disposal of Plastic and other waste, commonly associated with picnics and gatherings along the river banks
The District Administration also encouraged and appealed to all citizens to act as guardians of natural resources by conscious prevention of River and Environmental Pollution. It was also informed that the Government Authorities shall take action against any individuals or groups found undertaking ill practices which causes pollution of the Tapu (Doyang) River within Pughoboto Sub-Division.
