Earthquake Mock Drill held at Tizit

Tizit: TASU and TTSU performed roles of Community First Responders and Volunteers during mock drill

To ensure readiness and review emergency preparedness, the District Disaster Management Authority, Mon in collaboration with NSDMA, HG, CD & SDRF conducted a earthquake mock drill exercise at Tizit on Tuesday, DIPR informed.

The exercise was conducted simulating an earthquake magnitude of 8.7 on Richter scale. The staging area was set up at GHSS, Tizit and TASU Office, Tizit with ADC, Tizit as Responsible Office and SDO (civil), Tizit as Incident Commander.

The mock exercise was started with an information regarding occurrence of a hypothetical earthquake which was alerted by a siren. On completion of rescue operation and assessment, SDO (C), Tizit, Tumben P Tsanglao who was the Incident Commander of the mock exercise briefed the participants on response operation and also thanked all for successful conduct of the mock exercise.

Besides, government officials, Tizit Area Students’ Union (TASU) and Tizit Town Students Union (TTSU) performed as Community First Responders and Volunteers.
