Minister Jacob Zhimomi calls on Union Minister of Jal Shakti in New Delhi

New Delhi: CR Paatil assures to do everything necessary to make both JJM and SBM (G) successful in Nagaland

Jacob Zhimomi, Minister for PHED and Cooperation, called on CR Paatil, the newly appointed Union Minister of Jal Shakti in New Delhi on July 24, 2024, informed DIPR.

While congratulating him on his Lok Sabha victory and subsequently taking charge as Union Minister, Jacob apprised Paatil on the on-going Jal Jeevan Mission projects in Nagaland which have made a meaningful impact on people’s lives across the state. Stating that the flagship scheme will soon see its completion by December 2024, Jacob reaffirmed his commitment towards 100% tap water connection for all intended beneficiaries, with tap water connection in the state under JJM standing at 91.3%.

They also further discussed water source sustainability and access to bulk water in the village habitations across the state. Also touching on the very important matter of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) which also falls under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, views were exchanged on sanitation parameters including segregation of solid and liquid waste management in rural and urban habitations.

In the course of discussion, Jacob requested CR Paatil for his unwavering support towards Nagaland, maintaining that the hilly terrain poses significant challenges. Acknowledging the concerns and appreciating the Minister and the Nagaland PHED for the commendable work, CR Paatil, on his part, assured the Minister of his support towards fulfilling PM Modi’s vision of Har Ghar Jal and to do everything necessary to make both JJM and SBM (G) successful in Nagaland.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Raj Bhushan Choudhury, Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti; Vini Mahajan, Secretary, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Government of India and Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Department of Water Resources, Government of India.
