The President of India has approved the appointment of Preeti Sudan, Member, UPSC, as the Chairperson of the Union Public Service Commission, informed the Additional Secretary of the Department of Personnel & Training, Government of India.

The 1983 batch IAS officer will take over the duties of Chairperson, UPSC with effect from 1st August 2024 till further orders or till 29th the April 2025, whichever is earlier, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, IAS, stated.

On 4th July 2024, Dr Manoj Soni submitted his resignation as the Chairman of UPSC citing personal reasons.

“Hon’ble President has accepted the resignation of Dr. Manoj Soni from the post of Chairman, Union Public Service Commission with effect from 31st July, 2024(A/N) under Article 316(2) of the Constitution of India”, the Addl Secretary stated.
