Condemning the conduct of the GPRN/NSCN (Khango) group, the Angami Students’ Union (ASU), on Wednesday stated that “the Capital Punishment being threatened upon the proprietor of KKB Rülho is no less than an act of terrorism!”.
In a press communique issued on July 31, the ASU acknowledged the sacrifices of national workers and their commitment for the Naga cause. However the student body criticized the act of few individuals or groups “such as the GPRN/NSCN Khango group” that has tarnished the very fabric of a nation building revolutionary entities.
“The union does not shy away in endorsing the responsibility of every Naga to contribute towards the cause of a free Naga nation; however, such contribution should never be under ‘Forced taxation’ or under the threat of ‘Capital Punishment’. The nonsensical attitude of the so called GPRN/NSCN Khango group underweening human life in no way represent the aspiration of the Nagas and the Angami Students’ Union vehemently condemns such anti social elements disrupting the peaceful environment in our Naga homeland,” asserted the ASU.
In the aftermath of the incident, ASU pointed out that the Angami Youth Organization has explored all possible means to settle the matter for good. However, the non compliance from the GPRN/NSCN Khango group has resulted in the non cooperation resolution of the AYO.
The ASU expressed shock over the statement issued by the Khango group on July 30, which it viewed as indicative of the inefficiency of the group in representing the aspiration of the Nagas.

“Throughout the Naga political struggle, Nagas with or without enrolling in the Naga revolutionary groups has equally sacrificed and contributed to the Naga cause. Yet, the Khango group intimidating the Angami Youth Organization is no less than denouncing the supreme sacrifices of our community towards the Naga political issue. It is immensely saddening that the Khango group is lacking efficient leaders who understand the essence of humanity and have notably forgotten the basic principles of being a freedom fighter,” stated the ASU.
The Union mentioned that it will extend its support and cooperation to the Angami Youth Organization to ensure a free and just society, free from the shadow of hooligans. While condemning the atrocious act of the GPRN/NSCN Khango group, the union also implored every right thinking citizens to be prepared for any call to assert their rights.
“At a time when peace and unity is prevailing upon the Nagas, this issue has brought social unrest in the Naga homeland and no story of justification can redeem the negative repercussions of this act. The Angami Students’ Union cannot allow the ‘Gun Culture’ to destabilize peace and unity among the Nagas, and we urge upon every Naga patriot to stand in solidarity,” added the ASU.
