Expressing deep concern over the recent incident involving the NSCN-K (Khango) group and the AYO, the Konyak Union (KU) has appealed the two parties to seek an amicable solution.

The KU condemned any life-threatening actions and harassment against any individuals. “There are proper and respectful means to resolve disputes, and we do not condone such dangerous and harmful behavior. The Konyak Union remains committed to facilitating a peaceful and constructive resolution to this issue,” stated a press release by KU President Tingthok Konyak and Asst. General Secretary Chingyem Konyak on July 31.

The NSCN-K (Khango) group had reportedly threatened capital punishment to the Proprietor of KKB Rülho, and subsequently the Angami Youth Organization (AYO) had declared non-cooperation against the NSCN-K (Khango) group.

“It has come to our attention of the Konyak Union that the contractor involved is associated with the roads and other infrastructural development in Mon District and other parts of the state of Nagaland. The Konyak Union has always extended our support to contractors operating in our region, ensuring their safety and the swift resolution of any disputes through our proactive involvement,” stated the press release.

The KU reiterated that it had consistently demonstrated its unwavering commitment to protecting individuals within its jurisdiction and fostering peace and development.

“We stand firmly against any actions that hinder or stagnate developmental processes in the region. Our goal is to safeguard all people and maintain a peaceful and progressive environment,” it asserted.

Urging both the NSCN-K (Khango) group and the Angami Youth Organization (AYO) to seek an amicable resolution to this matter, the KU also implored that the situation should not be blown out of proportion, and further requested that people or groups refrain from framing the matter as a tribal issue.
