The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) and Japukong Youth Organisation (JYO) has strongly condemned the barbaric and despicable act of sexual assault committed against a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in Saring village, Mokokchung district, on August 10, 2024.

“This heinous crime, allegedly perpetrated by Moakaba (Nepali), Sergeant Major of NSCN (Khango) is an affront to the values and morals of our community, and it demands the severest condemnation. AKM demands that the accused be subjected to the severest punishment as per the relevant laws. Such a grievous violation of the dignity and innocence of a child cannot be met with anything less than the full weight of justice. The safety of our children and the sanctity of our community must be preserved through decisive legal action,” stated the AKM.

It sternly warned against any individual or group that might attempt to bail out the accused. Any such actions, according to the Conference, will be viewed as a direct affront to the community and will be regarded as supporting the crime.

“Those who seek to protect the perpetrator will be deemed as endorsing this vile act and will face the consequences of their betrayal,” stated the AKM.

The student body also addressed what it considered a disturbing trend: “non-Nagas adopting Naga names to commit crimes, thereby tarnishing the reputation and honor of the Naga people”.

“This must serve as a lesson to all communities that such deceitful behavior will not be tolerated. Our identity is precious, and we must all work together to protect it from those who would misuse it,” appealed the AKM. It affirmed solidarity with the victim and her family, assuring full support and commitment to ensure that justice is delivered.

Condemning the heinous crime, the Japukong Youth Organisation (JYO) expressed shocked and outrage.

“Mr. Moakaba Aier from Akumen Village, Mokokchung, has not only violated the law but also the fundamental moral and ethical values that bind us as a society. The Japukong Youth Organisation stands united in its demand for immediate and stringent action against the perpetrator,” stated the JYO.

It called upon the authorities to ensure that the accused Moakaba is swiftly brought to justice, and face the full consequences of his despicable actions.

“We urge the legal system to expedite the process and ensure that the victim and her family receive the justice they deserve,” asserted the Organization.

Extending its deepest sympathies and support to the victim and her family, it pledged to stand by them and assist in any way possible as they seek justice and healing.

“We also take this opportunity to remind the community of the importance of safeguarding our children and protecting them from such monstrous acts. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that our society is a safe place for everyone, especially the most vulnerable,” stated the JYO.

It further urged everyone to stand together in condemning the act of cruelty and work towards creating a future where such horrors are not tolerated in any form.
