Six Bills introduced on first day of 5th Session of 14th NLA

Kohima: Speaker makes Obituary references to passing away of 3 former Members of NLA

Six Bills were introduced on the first day of the Fifth Session of the Fourteenth Nagaland Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio introduced four Bills:

– The Nagaland Goods and Services Tax (Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024

– The Nagaland Municipal (Amendment) Bill, 2024

– The Nagaland Work-Charged and Casual Employees Regulation (First Amendment) Bill, 2024

– Disqualification on Ground of Defection in Urban Local Bodies Bill, 2024

Deputy Chief Minister, T. R. Zeliang, introduced “The Nagaland Road Safety Authority (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024” while Minister for Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along introduced “The Global Open University Nagaland (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024.”

The Session had earlier commenced with the Speaker of the House making Obituary references to the passing away of three former Members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, namely Late Mhao Humtsoe, Late M.C. Konyak and Late Zhetovi Sema.

During the day, the Chief Minister laid on the floor of the House the Nagaland Agricultural Produce & Livestock Marketing (General) NAPLM Rules, 2024 and Notification of the Nagaland Lotteries (Regulation) First Amendment Rules, 2024.

Minister Power, KG Kenye, laid the Nagaland Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Separate Audit Report (SAR) for FY 2018-19 & FY 2019-20 while Minister for Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, laid the Notification based on the Cadre Review of 2018 in respect of Tourism Department.

Chief Minister presented the Nagaland Lokayukta Fifth Annual Report 2023 and Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation Limited Annual Report 2021-2022. Deputy Chief Minister, Yanthungo Patton presented the Nagaland State Human Rights Commission Annual Report 2023-2024.

Meanwhile, the Secretary-in-Charge, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat reported the assent of the Governor of Nagaland to the following Bills:

– The Nagaland Salaries, Allowances & other Facilities of the Chief Minister. Speaker, Deputy Chief Minister/ Ministers, Leader of Opposition, Deputy Speaker and other Members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and Pension tor Ex-Members (Sixth Amendment) Bill, 2024.

– The Nagaland Goods and Services Tax (Eight Amendment) Bill. 2023

– Nagaland Appropriation (No. 1) Bill, 2024

– Nagaland Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2024
