The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party has said that it is confident that the Delhi High Court will dismiss the case against the Party where the petitioner is seeking its de-recognition as a political party.

According to a report by Nagaland Page, the complainant had alleged that the NDPP obtained its registration by fraud and claimed that 27 members filed false affidavits under oath, swearing that they were not members of other political groups when they were members of the Naga People’s Front (NPF). The report also said that on 5th September 2024, the Court of Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav fixed the next hearing for 11th December 2024.

“…the allegations raised by the petitioner are without any merit and holds no water”, stated the press release issued by the NDPP Media & Communication Committee. It also stated that in 2018, the petitioner has filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) based on the same allegations, however, the ECI dismissed the matter in 2019.

Further, the NDPP said that since it has already contested and won the required number of seats in all the elections conducted by the ECI and the State Election Commission (SEC), the issue of de-recognition or de-registration now implausible.

The Party also pointed out that the hearing date on the case had to be rescheduled because the representatives of the petitioner failed to show up for the hearing “which proves that they themselves are aware that the case is without any merit.”

The NDPP respects the Honorable Court and trust the Indian judiciary, that justice will be delivered without any biasness whatsoever and that the stand of the NDPP will be vindicated, it added.
