USSC holds coordination meeting to address inadequate socio-economic concerns

The United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) in collaboration with the  Longkhim-Chare Area GBs Union, held a coordination meeting with all the Heads of Offices, VCCs, VDB Secretaries, Head GBs, Chare Area Students’ Union (CASU) and Longkhim Division Students’ Union(LDSU).

 

The meeting held a thorough discussion on prevailing issues and grievances on key areas of:

– Shortage of teachers in the Longkhim Chare Area.

– The urgent need of an SDEO at Longkhim, with the educational institutions under Longkhim Chare facing untold miseries in the absence of SDEO.

– Poor school infrastructure in the area.

– Shortage of Medical Officers/Doctors, Nurses and medical facilities.

-Poor Telecom services

-Poor electricity service/supply

– Poor road conditions. And discussed the need for the upgradation of NH-202 to 2-lane Highway.

– Challenges in the banking sector, including insufficient staff and need of ATM in the area. So far there is not a single ATM in Longkhim Chare.

Concerns were also shared on officers and employees not being stationed in the area/place of posting causing difficulties for the people

The house further resolved to work with all CSOs, offering full cooperation and support to the Administration and Departments for the community’s betterment.

It also decided to provide a three-month time frame/period for absent officers to return/report to their posting and fulfill their duties and responsibilities diligently. The USSC resolved to monitor the situation and make a report on those errant officers. Further, an inquiry into prevailing issues and grievances will be conducted and representations will be made to the Government where necessary.

During the coordination meeting, the house expressed its gratitude and appreciation to all the dedicated and sincere officers and government employees who work tirelessly for the upliftment and betterment of the community, particularly in the Longkhim Chare Area.
