The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has decided to rename the Junior National Girls Championship in honour of the first Captain of the Indian Olympic Football Team (1948), Late Dr. T. Ao.

In a circular to its members, the Secretary General, AIFF, Anilkumar P, said that the unanimous decision was made during the AIFF Executive Committee Meeting followed by the AIFF Annual General Meeting held on 10th September 2024 in Hyderabad.

“This renaming is a tribute to Late Dr.T. AO’s outstanding contributions to Indian football”, the Secretary General stated.
