Christopher Tilak, AICC (All India Congress Committee) Secretary Incharge of Manipur, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Tripura, addressed an Extended Executive Meeting of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee at Congress Bhavan, Kohima, on October 7. The meeting was attended by members of the NPCC executive committee, District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents, frontals and department heads, informed the Communications Department, NPCC.

During his speech, Tilak emphasized that people in the Northeast have come to realize that the BJP has miserably failed to deliver on its tall promises. He pointed out that young Nagas are desperately looking for employment opportunities and raised concerns about the NDPP – BJP government’s inability to address key issues such as the Naga Political Solution and the livelihoods of the people, concluding that the much touted double-engine sarkar in Nagaland was a non starter.

He also accused the BJP of focusing solely on electoral numbers and majoritarian politics, which he contrasted with the Congress’s focus on reaching out to the marginalised and the underrepresented.

He highlighted Rahul Gandhiji’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra as prime examples of the Congress’s commitment to grassroot politics and inclusive outreach.

He further announced that Congress would soon begin a tour of Nagaland, starting from Eastern Nagaland, aimed at identifying and empowering leaders from diverse sections of society, with a special emphasis on women leaders. The tour is part of the Congress’s efforts to reconnect with the people and address the pressing issues facing the state.
