Nokhu Range Students’ Union condemns physical assault on class 10 student in Noklak town

The Nokhu Range Students’ Union (NRSU) has expressed concerns over an incident which took place in the afternoon of October 6, in Noklak Town, whereby a student of Class 10 of Government High School, Noklak Village, was subjected to an unprovoked physical assault. The attack, according to the NRSU was allegedly carried out by Sulem, son of Putsong, Thangpong, son of Mr. Leyang, and Ngansai, son of Pukha, all hailing from Thang Village.

The Union has condemned the senseless act of violence and held the perpetrators accountable for resorting to extreme measures without any justification or wrongdoing by an innocent individual.

“In a civilized society, such act that undermines peaceful coexistence must be denounced by all conscientious citizens. As Noklak serves as a symbol and reflection of the Khiamniungan community, particularly in the realm of education, it is imperative that the District Administration, law enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders ensure a safe and harmonious environment for all students and the public, regardless of their diverse backgrounds,” stated the Union.

The Union, through it media cell, has also extended its heartfelt prayers for the victim’s swift recovery and expressed deep sympathy to the victim’s family during this difficult time.
