The office of the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has condemned the abduction of two members of the Ao community in Dimapur on 10th of October 2024 and the subsequent extortion demands made to them by the members of NSCN (Niki). This act of violence, is a grave violation of human rights and unbecoming of the national workers, it stated.
The AKM called upon the Naga National group “to respect the democratic rights of the people and to refrain from any activities that could escalate tensions in the state”. The student body has also said that it “will not recognize any national groups terrorizing our communities, nor will we tolerate and would like to question their legitimacy and principle, if they are really working for the national interest or their personal gains”.
Extending solidarity with the victims and in support of the clarion call from the Dimapur based Naga youth organizations, the AKM has urged the concern authorities to take stern action against those responsible before the situation worsens. Further, it has appealed to the state government and the right authorities to ensure the safety and security of the citizens across Nagaland.
Furthermore, the AKM has urged the public to stand united during this critical times in support of justice and for the protection of our rights.
