The table top exercise on the preparedness and capability of responding to the event of disaster was held at five locations in Kohima on October 22 namely Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Home Department, PWD(R&B), Health and Family Welfare Nagaland , HG’CD and SDRF Nagaland,Municipal Affairs Department Nagaland lead by Maj Gen Sudhir Bahl (RETD) Lead Consultant (ME & IRS) NDMA,MHA and Moderator Isamzaile lheilung project coordinator (research and planning).
Later, a press conference was held where Maj Gen Sudhir Bahl (RETD), Lead Consultant (ME & IRS) at NDMA, MHA, highlighted key discussions regarding necessary measures during disasters. He pointed out several issues that need attention:
-Community response must be empowered
-Buildings should be constructed to be seismic-proof
-The importance of aerial resources in our state is critical
– The role of a nodal officer for air support should be integrated into disaster management efforts
-Landslide management requires better organization, and integrated plans are essential
-Medical response plans need thorough cooperation.

Meanwhile, Johnny Raungmei, Joint CEO, emphasized their goal of creating a future-ready infrastructure and economy for Nagaland through these initiatives, noting that the most significant disaster in Nagaland is climate-induced landslides.
He also Informed that the National Buildings Code is being integrated and will soon be overseen by Municipal Affairs following its reinforcement. Ruangmei further emphasized that the training will to ensure better preparedness for any unforeseen events.
