In preparation for the much-awaited Ahuna Festival, the Zunheboto Town Council (ZTC), under the aegis of the Sumi Hoho, has launched several renovation and development initiatives aimed at enhancing the town’s infrastructure.
As part of these efforts, the ZTC is focusing on the filling of potholes and renovation painting of the restroom facilities at the District Sports Complex, Zunheboto. These improvements are part of the council’s broader vision to provide a welcoming atmosphere for both residents and visitors attending the Ahuna Festival celebrations from November 11th to 14th.
The Ahuna Festival, a significant cultural event for the Sumi community, will see K. Tokugha Sukhalu, IAS (Rtd), the Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology, as the chief guest for the occasion. The ZTC has expressed excitement in hosting the festival, which will feature various traditional activities and cultural showcases.
In addition to the renovation efforts, ZTC Councellor, Vikheshe Aye, who also serves as the chairman of Alahuto ward Disaster Management, provided updates on the recent landslide-affected areas in the region. He confirmed that the district administration, along with a central team, has already visited and assessed the landslide impact zones in Alahuto Colony, where several households were displaced. Aye assured that appropriate measures have been taken to support those affected by the disaster.
