Advisor Temjenmenba appeals for allocation of fund for construction of Fire Station in Mangkolemba

Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba has written to the Advisor

Fire & Emergency Services, Home Guard & Civil Defence Government of Nagaland S.Kiusumew Yimchunger requesting to allocate fund for construction of Fire Station in Mangkolemba ADC headquarter, at the earliest on priority.

“I would like to reiterate that Mangkolemba ADC Headquarter, under 29 Jangpetkong A/C, in Mokokchung district does not have a fire station despite the town having a sizeable urban population. Moreover, there are many surrounding villages in close proximity to the town. Yet, the nearest fire station is located only in Mokokchung town, which is 64.3kms (3:30hours) away,” stated the MLA in the letter.

He also reminded of the devastating fire incident happened on December 8 in Mangkolemba town, which rendered many families homeless and destroyed commercial goods worth crores of rupees.

“Such incidents could have been averted had a fire station was already there in place. Therefore, the Hon’ble Advisor Fire & Emergency Services, HG, and, Civil Defence is again fervently requested to allocate fund for construction of Fire Station in Mangkolemba ADC headquarter, at the earliest on priority, please,” requested Temjenmenba.

The MLA & Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba also visited the fire incident site at Mangkolemba town today to take stock of the damage. He also met the fire victims and handed them relief funds from his own side.

While interacting with the fire victims, the Advisor committed that he will pursue all possible means to ensure that a fire station is set up in Mangkolemba at the earliest, along with a Disaster Response Force team. He expressed deep regret for the loss of properties and conveyed his sympathies to the affected families. However, he also expressed his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the citizens, the district administration, police, the town council members and the NDPP party workers for their vigilant and brave acts in containing the fire on time.
