Western Naga Youth Front dismayed by abduction, assault of youths in Dimapur

Dimapur: WNYF urges concerned authorities to keep a check on rampant possession of arms in public spaces

The Western Naga Youth Front has expressed shock and dismay over the abduction and assault of four youths and the brutal assault of three at gunpoint by alleged national workers on 17th December 2024 at Thahekhu village, Dimapur.

Condemning the “blatant misuse of power and the inhumane treatment”, the Youth Front expressed concern “at the growing rate of abduction, intimidation and assaults on layman by those supposed to be working for our welfare”.

The Front also urged the concerned authorities to arrest and book all the culprits involved in the case under NSA and to keep a check on the rampant possession of arms in public spaces. Further, it urged national workers to stop their abusive practices and start respecting the people’s rights and sentiments for peaceful co-existence as a people.

Furthermore, it advised member organisations “to remain vigilant and prepared to deal with any eventuality that may arise due to this menace of authoritarianism and gun culture in our society today.”
