Mokokchung Centric, a people’s group, is set to organize the 52nd edition of the Watch Night Service at the Mokokchung Town Main Centre Police Point on the midnight of December 31, 2024. This long-standing tradition, initiated in 1972 by the Seasonal Club, has been a significant event for the community, marked by blessings from the Mokokchung Town Baptist Church (MTBA).
Over the years, the event has brought together people from all walks of life, fostering unity and celebration. While it has been consistently organized in the past, there was a brief pause in 2022 when no organization stepped forward to take charge. Mokokchung Centric took the initiative to continue the tradition, ensuring the continuity of this valued event, informed a press release by the Mokokchung Centric.
This year, due to the inability of the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) to organize the service, Mokokchung Centric, supported by generous contributions from well-wishers in the form of finances, sound systems, platform arrangements, services, and event management, has ensured that the event proceeds smoothly.

To secure the future of the Watch Night Service, Mokokchung Centric has initiated efforts to mobilize resources and establish a seed fund. “This fund will ensure that any group or organization willing to take up the responsibility in the future can do so without financial constraints. Contributions from the public are welcome to support this endeavor,” stated the press release.
It expresses gratitude to the district administration and the police department for granting permissions and assistance in the event management. It also thanked the well-wishers and artists who have come forward to make the event a success.
“Looking ahead, Mokokchung Centric remains committed to organizing events that promote tourism, natural economic growth, and community engagement in Mokokchung.
