19 houses have been gutted in a massive fire in the wee hours of 13 January 2025 near NST Junction in Tompang Ward, Mon Town.

According to the verification report by the Extra Assistant Commissioner, Mon, Er. R Mhao Humstoe, the fire broke out at around midnight and continued to burn for four hours. He mentioned that the houses destroyed in the inferno included six residential houses and thirteen shops.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

The ADC stated that two fire tenders (one large and one small), one 100 RCC BRO GREF water tank and one water tanker from 27 AR were present at the spot of incident to extinguish the blaze.

Investigation is reportedly underway to determine the origin of the fire. Efforts are also underway to assess the full extent of the damages, it has been said.
