The 5th General Assembly of the Wokha Humtso Elumyo Senior Youth Welfare Forum (WHESYWF) was held on 18 January 2025 at the Council Hall, Elumyo Village, under the theme “Digital Divide”. Er. Ekon Murry, Superintendent Engineer, PWD Mechanical, Government of Nagaland, graced the event as the theme speaker.
In his address. Er. Murry highlighted the significance of bridging the digital divide. Stressing how technology has become a crucial element in today’s world, he emphasized the need for the youth to harness the power of digital tools for educational growth, economic development, and social progress. He also highlighted the challenges posed by unequal access to technology and called for using technology to create more inclusive opportunities for all, particularly in the rural areas.
The 5th General Assembly was attended by various village council representatives, including the Wokha Village Council Secretary, who encouraged collective efforts for the welfare of the three villages and assured the council’s unwavering support in every endeavor.
The Humtso Village Council Chairman, reflecting on the unity since the formation of the council in 2017, urged the forum to stay focused on positive progress, while the Elumyo Village Council Chairman also expressed his commitment to the cause of the forum.
The program was chaired by Mharhomo V. Murry and Chichanbeni Humtsoe, an invocation by Aben Tsanglao, Pastor of EBC, followed by welcome address by Nchumbemo Huntsoe, President of WHESYWF. The attendees observed a minute of silent prayer for past members, and a special number was presented by Lobeno Tungoe. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Nchumthung Yanthan, Joint Secretary of WHESYWF, and a benediction by Bikhamo Yanthan, Pastor of HBC.
In the second session, a meeting was held to elect new office bearers for the forum. Renathung Yanthan was elected as the new President, Lichumthung Tsanglao as General Secretary, and Mharomo V. Murry as Finance Secretary. The session was chaired by Renathung Tsanglao, Vice President of WHESYWF, with the General Secretary, Nzanthung P. Tungoe, presenting the annual report.
