Seyochung Village Students’ Union appeals for retention of teacher amid frequent transfers

The Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU) has written to the Principal Director,  Directorate of School Education, Nagaland requesting for retention of its general teacher at Government High School, Seyochung Village.

The Union drew attention to the frequent transfer of its General Teacher, which has caused concern among the students and the community.

“Mr. Thripongchum Sangtam was transferred to Government High School, Seyochung Village. From GMS Yangsekyu Village on 28/02/2024 through the order of the Government of Nagaland, Directorate of School Education, Kohima, via Letter No. EDN/PLN/RATIONALIZATION/23, Serial No. 18, Employee Code: EDN 10742 However, before even completing a year at his new posting, he has again been transferred to Government High School, Phisami, on 06/02/2025 through Letter No. EDN/PLN/RATIONALIZATION/2023/465, Serial No. 30, Employee Code: EDN 10742.,” stated the Union.

The abrupt transfer, the Union highlighted, has disrupted the academic environment of the school, as the teacher’s experience and teaching skills were positively contributing to the students’ education.

“Given the shortage of experienced teachers in our village, we sincerely request your esteemed office to reconsider this transfer and retain  Thripongchum Sangtam at Government High School, Seyochung Village for the benefit of the students and the smooth functioning of the school,” it stated.

In this regard, the Union appealed to the office to take necessary action regarding on the matter and grant their request.
