National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), Zunheboto unit initiated a full scale checking of prohibited tobacco products, mainly targeting vicinity of educational institutions on 12th February 2025. The drive was carried under COPTA 2003, which prohibits advertisement and regulation of Trade and Commerce Acts under Section 6(b), which further prohibits sale of tobacco products within 100 meters of educational institutions.

The drive was collaborated with and followed physically by District Administration officials led by EAC, Zunheboto, Tsoinchu Sangtam, Dobashis, Police personnel under SP’s Office, Zunheboto, Officials from Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU), Sumi Youth Organisation (SYO) and No Tobacco Club Zunheboto. The seized products were later disposed off as per the department’s proposed disposal system.
