The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has issued an ultimatum of seven days to the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, to vacate the classrooms at Government Middle School (GMS) Midland which the Department is utilizing for its Health Centre.
In a representation to the Principal Director, DH&FW, the student body expressed dismay that despite “clear directives from the Principal Director of the Education Department to vacate the premises on 5th July 2024 and subsequently on 8th October 2024, your Department continues to encroach upon the school infrastructure, severely disrupting the academic environment and infringing on students’ rights to proper education.”
This blatant disregard for student welfare, administrative authority, and the law is unacceptable, the DNSU President Hinoto P. Aomi and General Secretary Michael Kath added.
The Union stated two demands:
- The immediate relocation of the dispensary from the school premises to a suitable alternative site.
- Compliance with the Education Department’s order and restoration of the school’s classrooms for educational purposes.

Further, the DNSU has said that if the Health Department fails to fulfil the demands within the stipulated time of seven days, it would resort to democratic and non-violent action to safeguard the interests of our students and the integrity of our educational institutions. “The DNSU will not hesitate to escalate this matter through public demonstrations, legal recourse, and other necessary measures to ensure that the rightful academic environment of GMS Midland is restored,” it also stated.
