291 matters and disputes were settled and disposed off today out of 427 cases which were taken up during the 1st quarterly National Lok Adalat. Organized under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authorities (NSLSA), 11 sitting benches were set up by the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) across the districts in the district court premises, the NSLSA informed in a press release. The total amount involved in the settlement was Rs. 3,87,35, 490/- only.
The matters taken up were mostly at pre-litigation and pending stage which included bank recovery cases, loan, telephone bills, and MACT cases. The decision arrived at by the presiding officers who is a Judicial officer, conciliators who are learned Advocates along with both parties are final and binding and amicably settled.
LONGLENG DLSA held National Lok Adalat today at district court. The sitting took up 6 cases of bank recovery cases and settled 6 cases which accounted to a total amount of Rs. 153,185. Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary LDLSA Kumdilong Kessen (NJS) as the presiding officer and SBI bank staff, Retainer Lawyer Adv. Mane Phom and Panel Lawyer Panglang Y Phom as the conciliator and Panel Lawyer Monyei Phom chaired the program. Secretary LDLSA briefed about the Lok Adalat.
MOKOKCHUNG DLSA held its 1st Quarterly National Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex which was presided over by Julian Sitlhou, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) cum Secretary, Mokokchung kDLSA along with Retainer Lawyer Watitemjen and Panel Lawyer from the Mokokchung DLSA as the conciliators. A total of 19 bank recovery cases were addressed, and all were successfully disposed resulting in a settlement amount of Rs. 15,05,340 (Fifteen lakhs five thousand three hundred forty only).
WOKHA DLSA conducted 1st quarterly National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Wokha. Cheliam Khiamniungan, JMFC/Secretary, Wokha DLSA was the presiding officer. Panel Lawyers Jacob Kikon, Shanchobeni P Lotha were conciliators. 11 Pre-Litigation Bank recovery cases were taken up and disposed off. The Total settlement amount is Rs.16,40839/- ( Sixteen Lakhs forty thousand eight hundred thirty nine) only.
ZUNHEBOTO DLSA conducted 1st Quarterly National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Zunheboto. District & Sessions Judge cum Chairman ZDLSA Phuleto Yeptho, NJS was the presiding officer. Easter H Yepthomi and Inolito K Sumi were the conciliators. All together 05 pre litigation bank recovery cases were taken up and 02 were disposed of with the total settlement amount of Rs. 33,24,719/-.
PHEK DLSA conducted the 1st Quarterly National Lok Adalat today at District Court complex Phek. The National Lok Adalat was presided by Tucuno Vamuzo, NJS, District & Session Judge cum Chairperson Phek DLSA with Sekhotso Rokha, Panel Lawyer Phek DLSA as counciliator. 29 matters of Pre-Letigation bank recovery cases of NStCB (Phek, Pfutsero and Chozuba) were taken up and disposed off with a settlement amount of Rs. 22,90,243/- (Twenty Two Lakh Ninety Thousand Two Hundred Fourty Three) Only.
KOHIMA DLSA conducted 1st quarterly National Lok Adalat for the year 2025 at District court complex. CJM cum Secretary, Kohima DLSA Wokono Yhoshii NJS was the presiding officer and the Panel Lawyers Kohima DLSA as conciliators. Total number of 504 pre- litigation Bank recovery cases, 250 Telephone bill recovery case, 3 Pending MS case and 2 MACT was put up before the Lok Adalat whereby 5 Telephone bill recovery cases and 35 Bank recovery (pre-litigation) was taken up and settled. The total outstanding amount was ₹ 67,40,888/- whereby settled with an amount of ₹ 46,51,504. Altogether 15 Banks and 2 telephone office participated in the Lok Adalat.
DIMAPUR District Legal Services Authority conducted 1st National Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex. N. Longshithung Ezung, PD&S Judge and Chairman, Dimapur DLSA delivered a brief speech and declared the lok adalat opened.
The presiding officers for the lok adalat were N. Longshithung Ezung and Seyielenuo Mezhii, CJM & Secretary, DDLSA. 116 cases were taken up and 64 cases were disposed of. Total settlement amount is Rs. 1,44,08989/- (One crore forty four lakh eight thousand nine hundred eighty nine only).
KIPHIRE DLSA conducted 1st Lok Adalat at District Court Complex Kiphire. Holika Sukhalu, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary Kiphire DLSA was the presiding officer. Banks present were SBI Kiphire and Pungro, Nagaland State Co-operative Bank Ltd. Took up 18 Pre-Litigation bank loan cases and settled 15 Pre Litigation bank loan cases. Total settlement Amount is 31,65,604 (Thrity One Lakhs Sixty Five Thousand Six Hundred Four)
MON District Legal Services Authority organized National Lok Adalat at District Court, Mon. The proceedings were presided over by B. Peter Resu, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, Mon DLSA, with Panel Lawyers Angun Konyak, N. Mannon, and M. Moba serving as conciliators. JMFC cum Secretary, B. Peter Resu, opened the proceedings with a welcome address, and emphasizing the importance of alternative dispute resolution in ensuring speedy and amicable settlements. He highlighted the significance of Lok Adalats in reducing the burden on courts while fostering a spirit of compromise and reconciliation among disputing parties. A total of 35 pre-litigation bank recovery cases were taken up, out of which 31 cases were successfully settled. The total outstanding amount in these cases was Rs. 1,12,83,474/- (Rupees One Crore Twelve Lakhs Eighty-Three Thousand Four Hundred Seventy-Four* with a settled amount of *Rs. 52,14,775/- (Rupees fifty two lakhs, fourteen thousand, seven hundred and seventy five) only.
TUENSANG DLSA conducted 1st Quarterly National Lok Adalat at SBI main branch Tuensang. The National Lok Adalat was presided by Principal District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman Tuensang DLSA Somet Chumden Chang, NJS, and Retainer Lawyer TDLSA Amtimangyang Chang, as the conciliators. All together 33 bank recovery cases were taken up and 7 bank cases were disposed of with a settlement amount of Rs 4,51,853/-( Four Lakh Fifty one Thousand Eight Hundred Fifty Three) only.
PEREN DLSA successfully organized the National Lok Adalat on March 8, 2025, at the State Bank of India (SBI), Jalukie. The event aimed to provide a platform for resolving disputes efficiently through mutual settlement. During the Lok Adalat, a total of 110 pre-litigation cases were taken up for consideration. Out of these, 67 cases were successfully settled, resulting in a combined settlement amount of ₹19,15,239. This reflects the effective dispute resolution efforts undertaken during the event. The Lok Adalat witnessed active participation from financial institutions such as the Nagaland State Cooperative Bank, along with the State Bank of India (SBI) branches at Jalukie and Tening. The proceedings were presided over by WV Patton, Secretary of the PDLSA, assisting in the resolution process were panel lawyers including Asungbe, Inchang, Indeu, and Italang, who served as conciliators. Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs), namely Haiculak and Seikolun, provided valuable support throughout the proceedings, ensuring smooth coordination and guidance for the parties involved.
