A devastating fire incident occurred in Bedang Village, Kiphire District on 6th of March 2025 at around 2:30 PM resulting to complete destruction of two residential houses. The fire was reported to have originated from a wildfire in the surrounding jungle, which quickly spread and reduced the houses to ashes. However, no casualties have been reported.

The house belonged to P. Sochu Yimchunger and Shishile Yimchunger. The families have suffered significant material losses in the fire incident. The efforts made by the local residents, along with emergency responders to contain the inferno failed due to dry weather conditions and strong winds allowing the flames to spread swiftly making fire fighting efforts challenging.
