A farewell program in honor of Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, outgoing Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kohima, was held at the DPDB Hall, Kohima on 11th March 2025. The event was attended by district heads of offices.
In his farewell address, Kumar Ramnikant expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Deputy Commissioner in various districts for over five years. Reflecting on his tenure in Kohima, he highlighted key events of 2024, including the Lok Sabha Elections, Urban Local Body (ULB) Elections, Hornbill Festival, and the 16th Finance Commission visit. He described his time as engaging and filled with challenges and learning.
Sharing his insights as a government official, Ramnikant spoke about two types of approaches—one active, where work is done behind the scenes without immediate rewards but with deep satisfaction, and the other reactive, where actions come after events, often bringing recognition. He encouraged the officers to adopt the active approach, emphasizing its value in bringing peace of mind and fulfillment.
Ramnikant commended his team of officers in his office, describing them as the best and expressing appreciation for their unwavering support. He also extended gratitude to the Chief Minister, MLAs, Angami Public Organization (APO), Angami Women Organization (AWO), Angami Youth Organization (AYO), Kohima Village Council, and various organizations for their support.
The outgoing DC added that his transfer was not a final goodbye but a role change, expressing hope for future collaborations.
Speaking on behalf of the Heads of Offices, T. Lanusenla Longkumer, NCS, CEO, Kohima Municipal Council, praised Kumar Ramnikant’s wisdom and leadership, particularly in ensuring the smooth and peaceful conduct of two major elections in Kohima, including the ULB elections.
