6th Mokokchung Inter-School Badminton Championship 2025 concludes; Jubilee Memorial and Queen Mary Schools secure Team Championship titles

The 6th Mokokchung Inter-School Badminton Championship 2025, organized by the Mokokchung District Badminton Association (MDBA), concluded on Saturday after four days of competition.

The championship was hel’ from April 23 to 26, which witnessed participation from a total of 170 participants — 120 boys and 50 girls — representing 14 schools across the district. Over the course of the event, a total of 240 matches were played across 23 different categories.

In the Open Category, in Team Championship Boys, Jubilee Memorial School (JMS) emerged winner in while Queen Mary Higher Secondary School (QMHSS) finished as runners-up. Among the Team Championship girls, QMHSS claimed the championship title while JMS secured the runners-up position. Trophies to the team champions, medals, and certificates were awarded to the winners in individual categories. Certificates were also given to all the participants.

The closing ceremony was graced by Lieutenant Colonel S.A. Pillai, Sena Medal, Commanding Officer of the 25 Naga Battalion NCC, Mokokchung as the Special Guest.

In his address, he acknowledged MDBA for the initiative and commended the participants for playing 240 matches, calling it “an amazing feat.”

He encouraged the players by highlighting the value of sports in life, stating, “If you are into sports, whatever sport it may be, then half the battle is won because sports gives you physical ability, mental strength, and the go-getter personality that helps in all walks of your life.”

One new feature of this year’s tournament was the introduction of Most Promising Player and best  disciplined school. Limsang of Jubilee Memorial School (JMS) was awarded the Most Promising Player of the championship for his outstanding performance in the Under-11 category. The Best Disciplined School award was presented to Christian Residential Higher Secondary School.
