5 arrested in Kohima for robbery, break-in

Kohima police has announced the arrest of five individuals on May 6 in connection with a robbery case.

A press note issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Kohima Police stated that following a complaint received on March 12 regarding the theft of car parts in Nerhe Model Village, personnel from Chiephobozou Police Station (PS) under Kohima district made a breakthrough on the case and apprehended five individuals. The arrested persons have been identified as one Petekhrietuo  (22 yrs), Ruokuozhalie  (24 yrs), Neizasetuo (26 yrs), Raj (25 yrs), and Throngpise  (25 yrs).

Police said preliminary inquiries revealed that the suspects were not only involved in the theft of the car parts but also in a break-in within the Chiephobozou PS jurisdiction, stealing iron materials, and selling them to scrap dealers. They were also found to have been involved in theft cases around Jalukie, under Peren district.

A case has been registered at Chiephobozou PS vide No. 0001/25 under section 305/3/(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and further investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, Kohima police has commended the efforts of the investigative team and expressed appreciation to the cooperation of the public in this case.
