73 students were felicitated on May 24 at Chiechama marking the 27th Chiechama Students’ Union HSLC felicitation program which was held at the Village Council Hall.
Ketoulhou Metha, OSD (Budget), Finance Department, Government of Nagaland, who graced the event as the speaker, congratulated the successful candidates for overcoming a significant challenge. Encouraging the students, Metha said that the achievement is only preparing the students for a brighter future and the journey that lies ahead .
With the competitive academic studies, Metha urged the students to align studies with self interests and life goals. Advising the students to take their guidance with prayer, Metha spoke on the importance of faithfulness, dedication, and hard work. “Putting God first in all aspects of life can lead to success,” said Metha.
The Impact of digital technology was also emphasised, where the speaker cautioned the students to be mindful to the use of technology , particularly smartphones. “Technology is a powerful tool for progress, but misuse of it can have detrimental effects on the future,” said Metha.
He also urged the need for inculcating reading habits where he advised the students to read and familiarise themselves with reading newspapers and news magazines.
Bithunglo, Principal, Government Higher Secondary School Chiechama, highlighted that the present system of schools and institutions are very precise , preparing students for competitive exams and final exams however, she noted that the schools and institutions do not prepare students on how to face challenges and failures. She stressed on how the community, the parents and even the institutions fail to address these core issues. “This is the reason why the students lack in self confidence,” expressed the Principal.
Alongside academic pursuit, Bithunglo encouraged all the students to develop positive attitude, positive mindset and try to become confident, responsible, and contributing members of the community and the society. She also informed that the pass percentage of the HSLC examinations 2025 for GHSS Chiechama has been 100 percent, and 96 percent for HSSLC 2025. In 2023 and 2024 as well, the HSLC results were 100 percent pass percentage, she added.

Due the lack of enrolment in the primary section, the Principal mentioned that currently the school consists of classes 6 to 12, with the total enrolment of 97 students and 28 teaching staffs.
Keeping in mind the importance of skill development among students, and in order to make the students job ready and market ready, the Principal highlighted that in 2023 the Samakra Shiksha (under the Department of School Education) introduced vocational subjects on electronics and hardware, for class 9 in 2023, which was upgraded to class 10 in 2025. Furthermore, they also introduced vocational subjects in electronics and hardware in class 11 starting from the year 2025. Besides financial literacy class, GHSS Chiechama also have a library equipped with age appropriate books where library classes are conducted, with at least two classes allotted for students in a week.
The program was chaired by Khriebeizo Mere, Vice President, CSU, while Neizetuo Benedict Sogotsu, Asst. Catechist, St. Paul Catholic Church, Chiechama invoked God’s blessing. The selcome address was delivered by Vikhotuolie Rüpreo, President, CSU. During the program, Neikeduolie Metha bagged the title of Mr. Fresher while Noulevinuo Theünuo was adjudged Miss. Fresher.
