With an aim to provide and train teachers with the skills to impart quality education in both rural and urban areas in Kiphire, the Educational Block Resource Centre (EBRC) Kiphire under the aegis of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland held a two-day Block Level Teachers Training on 28 and 29 October.
The two-day training concluded today in all three blocks under Kiphire: Seyochung, Kiphire and Pungro.
The training aimed to accommodate different skills and techniques, focusing on the use of Teaching Learning Materials (TLM), the Teachers Handbook on Foundational Literacy/Numeracy (FLN) and Vidhya Pravesh 3-month play-based module under Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE).
According to Kelhikha Kenye, Deputy Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, who addressed the trainees in Pungro on Friday, the training was initiated in 46 EBRCs across the state involving 132 resource persons and 6,716 teachers from 1,679 government schools having primary classes.
The mission director further stated that the TLM and Teachers Handbooks were delivered by SCERT under ECCE and FLN components to improve learning outcomes in schools with an aim to achieve Universal Foundational Literacy & Numeracy for all children of age 3-8 years by 2026-27.
Kenye said TLMs were developed by Change Inkk Foundation and Sols Arc, New Delhi based on Universal Learning Design (UDL).

Resource person Asepa Sangtam, ToT under EBRC Kiphire, said: “I would encourage the teachers to be innovative in their own way, going beyond the booklet and create such a bond between students that they will ‘learn with fun’ rather than in fear”.
Everyone can get a glimpse of the technical aspects of teaching through the TLMs, but to be truly efficient and fruitful, teachers must give their heart and mind in the process of teaching and learning, Sangtam said.
Only then can a notable outcome be possible and quality education accomplished eventually, wherein the teachers will be satisfied and feel blessed in the noble service they have rendered accordingly, he added.

The other resource persons of the training held under three blocks of Kiphire were:
