The second day of the 1st Inter High School and Higher Secondary School Annual Basketball Tournament 2025 witnessed intense action with eight boys’ league matches, two girls’ semi-finals, and one boys’ semi-final played at the BAMD Basketball Court, Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
In the girls’ category, Queen Mary Higher Secondary School (QMHSS) edged past Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School (MGHSS) in a tightly contested semi-final, winning by a narrow margin of 07-06.
In the second semi-final, Eden Academy put up a strong front to defeat Christian Residential Higher Secondary School (CRHSS) with a scoreline of 10-03.
QMHSS will now face Eden Academy in the girls’ finals scheduled for Saturday.

Meanwhile, the first boys’ semi-final match witnessed a gripping encounter between MGHSS and Clark Memorial Higher Secondary School (CMHSS). CMHSS took early control, leading the earlier quarters. However, a strong third-quarter rally by MGHSS turned the tide with a 22-7 run. Despite CMHSS mounting a late comeback in the final quarter, MGHSS held on to clinch a 34-32 victory and a place in the final.
The second boys’ semi-final—Queen Mary HSS vs Eden Academy—will be played on Saturday. The winner will meet MGHSS in the tournament final.
Among the three schools participating from outside Mokokchung Town—Yajen Aier GHS, Clark Memorial HSS, and GHS Changki, none advanced to the finals. Clark Memorial was the only one to reach the semi-final stage but was eliminated by MGHSS.
The tournament will conclude on July 13. Col. Rahul Gurung, Kirti Chakra, Commandant, 12 Assam Rifles will grace the closing ceremony as the Special Guest.
