The send-off programme for Miss Universe Nagaland 2025, Kelülü Dawhuo, was held today at Symphony Café, Kohima. The event was organized by the Beauty and Aesthetic Society of Nagaland (BASN).
Nineteen-year-old Kelülü Dawhuo, a student of St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama, emerged victorious on June 11, outshining 13 other contestants to clinch the debut title of Miss Universe Nagaland 2025. The pageant took place at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma, Kohima.
Dawhuo will represent Nagaland at the Miss Universe India 2025 beauty pageant. While the official dates for the competition have not been announced,, she is scheduled to leave Nagaland on July 17.
Speaking at the send-off event, Dawhuo expressed her excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to represent Nagaland at the national stage. She thanked her supporters, BASN, designers, makeup artists, and photographers for their encouragement and contributions.

Dawhuo was confident in her preparation and said that she has received training and guidance from professional mentors to represent the state at the National level.
She also revealed that her traditional wear for the pageant will feature a piece from the Chakhesang tribe titled “Goddess of Folk Song”, inspired by a story, a goddess from the Chakhesang community
Highlighting her pride in representing Nagaland, Dawhuo said it is a beautiful privilege to showcase the state’s trends and cultural diversity. She further shared that she has undergone communication training at NILSR Kohima, where she focused on voice modulation and communication skills. She also recently attended grooming sessions at Beauty High Academy in Delhi.
Dawhuo expressed her hope to highlight the strength of Naga women through the competition. Currently a second-year student, she also emphasized her commitment to balancing both her pageantry along with her studies carrying out both responsibilities hand in hand.
