Rio inaugurates biofertilizer production units

On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day celebrated at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, Kohima on August 15, the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr  Neiphiu Rio virtually inaugurated 8 Biofertilizer Production Units at Zubza, Dimapur, Jalukie, Wokha, Zuketsa, Mokokchung, Longleng and Tizit, simultaneously Advisor, Information & Public Relation and Soil and Water Conservation, Imkong L Imchen, virtually inaugurated 2 Biofertilizer Production Units at Tuensang and Noklak.

The Department of Soil & Water Conservation has set up Biofertilizer Production Units at 10 locations across the state under the Soil Health and Fertility Scheme of PM-RKVY under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. These production units aim to promote sustainable agriculture by providing indigenous, cost-effective, eco-friendly biofertilizers and biopesticides to farmers across the state.

On July 12, 2022, the Department signed an MoA with Central Agricultural University, Umiam, Meghalaya for the technology transfer of three products, namely- CAU Bioenhancer, CAU Jhum Bioenhancer, and Um-Met Biopesticide. Each unit has a yearly production capacity of 5,000 litres, with outputs distributed to farmers, demonstration farms, and government supported agricultural initiatives throughout the state.

Rio commissions waste collection & transportation vehicles to 20 ULBs

On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day, at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, Kohima on August 15  Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr  Neiphiu Rio commissioned the Waste Collection & Transportation Vehicles to 20 ULBs.

The Swachh Bharat Kosh has been set up in 2014 to facilitate channelization of philanthropic contributions and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds towards Clean India. The Ministry of MoHUA initiates funding for the ULBs through Swachh Bharat Kosh for 20 ULBs of Nagaland out of 39 ULBs of the state.

The select 20 ULBs will receive 41 sanitation collection and transportation vehicles, equipped with GPS and PA systems for efficient waste collection and monitoring. All eligible ULBs will receive Uniforms, shoes, raincoats, winter jackets, bins and tools for waste handling.
