Training on modern technologies of horticulture farming held

Basix Krishi Samruddhi Limited (BKSL), a national level organization working for agri-based livelihood promotion as conducted a training program on August 16 and 18 at L Hotovi Village under Dimapur district and Pishikhu Village under Niuland district, Nagaland, focusing on “Modern Technologies of Horticulture.

Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Dimapur, Nagaland under Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India supported to organize the training. BKSL and CIH are putting efforts to strengthen the overall farming skills of the farmer’s by adopting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), sustainable farming, value addition at local level and exploring alternate markets for better price realization.

In the training program, 50 farmers from each village participated with the action plan to implement the new learning in their field. This training will help the farmers for better productivity with better price realization along with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Resource Persons from Spice Board of India Dimapur Branch, Sam Taro shared about the different benefits of availing schemes from government for the farmer’s welfare, different techniques of horticulture farming in the area and good and agricultural practices. He also focused on the importance of organic farming and food habits, inculcating the habits of growing agricultural products with naturally grown and avoiding the use of pesticides or other harmful chemicals.

Second resource person, Ariba Anar, State Coordinator, North East Region Agri-Commodity E-connect Nagaland, highlighted on different markets linkages for our farmers to sell their agriculture and horticulture products both local and national markets in large scale, if our production can increase to meet the market demands.

The Resource person pointed out about the modern technology of horticulture farming by adopting the present demands like pink guava, bay leaves, oil seeds cultivation which are suitable in the areas.

The two days training program show enthusiasm from participants where village authority supported by their positive presence along with Elderly Men and Women.

Aakam Pame who organised the training expressed gratitude to the resource persons for their valuable services rendered for the farmers and the village authority for their positive response to host the training.
